Local Projects
From this page you can access summaries of local projects carried out during Little Voices Shouting Out (2014 – 2017) and Little Voices Being Heard (2017 – 2020).
They are grouped here by themes linking the topics that the children explored to the UNCRC, using similar categories to those used for monitoring by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

Frequently, the children prioritised issues that affect their families, communities, and the wider world, as well as more ‘everyday’ topics in their own lives. For example, homelessness, loneliness, hunger, access to water, forced displacement, terrorism, racism, climate action, plastic pollution and environmental protection can be found amongst topics explored or selected for research, alongside issues about school and local community environments, curriculum, health, sport and play.
This is the ecological model of childhood in action, and from a child’s eye view. Children do not just live ‘children’s’ lives, they live in places and communities in the world, and they may be more aware of this than we imagine. They should be recognized as citizens now, not just citizens of the future.
